Miss Fran has been influencing children’s lives at Ludington Area Catholic School since 1994. She has taught in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: 3- year-old and 4-year-old preschool teacher, technology teacher, librarian, physical education teacher, and reading support teacher. She brings many skills and talents to the position of “Specials Teacher,” teaching music, art, and physical education.
As a self-taught guitarist, Miss Fran has applied her skills to being a Music Minister at Ludington Area Catholic School and St. Simon Church since 2003. A passion as a Music Minister is to provide opportunities for singing and playing instruments at Mass, for children as well as adults. Additional instruments that she plays, include hammered dulcimer, mandolin, and ukulele.
As an artist, Miss Fran works in watercolors as well as sketching. Her favorite watercolors activities, include painting nature such as butterflies and blending colors to make sunsets.
Experience as an athlete in soccer, basketball, and track, as well as being the kindergarten through 6th grade physical education teacher from 1994-2000, allow her to teach these skills effectively to her students. A main goal of her teaching is good sportsmanship.
Miss Fran earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree in elementary education, from Michigan State University in 1988. Her certification includes teaching all subjects to students in kindergarten through 8 th grades and 9 th grade science. She earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree from Michigan State University in 1997. Her certification includes teaching reading to children in grades kindergarten through 12th grades.
Miss Fran enjoys playing guitar, praying daily, reading, watercolor painting, and walking her two black labs, Angel and Jewels.
